Mac GUI City :: Max size of System file in Classic Mac OS

Hi,

What is the max size of the System file?
I thought that it was 16 MB, but I saw a System file of 17.5 MB on a CD.
Since when is it more than 16 MB?

Since you can put a number of fonts and DAs in the system file, I suspect its maximum size is the maximum size allowed by the underlying file system.

The resource fork is limited to 16 MB.
The resource fork of "System" was 7,022,775 = 6,858 K = 6.7 MB.
But it has also a data fork.
The data fork was 11,383,940 = 11,117 K = 10.9 MB.
So the maximum size is 11,383,940 + 16,777,216 = 28,161,156 = 27,501 K = 26.9 MB.
