What is the Theater?
Mac GUI City Theater-- which can also be spelt "Theatre" if you're from that part of the world-- lets you create playlists of your favorite videos from a bunch of video sharing sites (YouTube, Metacafe, iFilm, etc) and show them to all your friends, whether they're Mac GUI Citizens or not.

What is a playlist?
A playlist is a collection of one or more movies. Each playlist can be watched many times, and with others online at the same time.

How do I create a playlist?
To create a playlist, you must have a Mac GUI City account and be logged in. Go to the Arts & Leisure Plaza -> Theater. In the upper-left hand corner, click the link 'Create new Playlist'. You must then enter a title for your playlist. It should have something to do with the sort of movies you wish it to contain. You can then set whether you want your playlist to be viewable by everyone (this includes non-Mac GUI Citizens) or just those who are on your Friends List. After you have done this, click Submit and you will be taken to a screen which will allow you to add movies to your playlist.

How do I add a movie to a playlist?
To add one or more movies to a playlist, you must have a Mac GUI City account and be logged in. You may only add movies to playlists which you created. Go to the Arts & Leisure Plaza -> Theater. In the upper-left hand corner, click the link 'My Playlists'. Or, if you have just created a playlist, ignore this step as well as the next one, because you will be taken automatically to the Playlist Manager screen. Select a playlist from the listing which you wish to add a movie to. Click the 'Edit' link in the upper left-hand corner (beneath the Playlist title). You will be taken to the Playlist Manager, which allows you to add and remove movies, change the order they play in, as well as change some settings of your playlist.
You should now have in mind the URL of the movie you would like to add. An example for YouTube is in the 'Add Movie' box. You must either paste in the URL, or type it in the Movie URL text box. Click 'Add Movie', and providing everything went well, the movie will be added to your playlist. Repeat those last two steps to add additional movies.

You may add videos from the following sites: YouTube, MetaCafe, and Veoh.

Why isn't site X included?
If you believe the Theater is missing a good video site for playlists, or you would to suggest one for addition, please contact an Administrator, or try posting a topic in the City Discussion forum. More than likely if you make your request known, the video-sharing site probably will be added.

Can I upload movies to Mac GUI?
You currently cannot upload movies to Mac GUI. The Theater is only for building playlists of movies on other web sites. See the Mac GUI Gallery if you want to upload still photos.
