Scoring Questions
What do I win for getting a high score?
The higher a score you get, the more @pples you will be awarded. Your name will also be recorded in the high score list, and everyone will know what a great gamer you are!
What are the bonus and rewards?
The score bonus is how many @pples you will receive for obtaining the first place score in a game. The reward is how many @pples you will receive per points scored. To view the bonus and reward, click 'View Game Info' for the game in question.

How do I record my high score?
When you have played through the game and have gotten to the game over screen, some games will automatically save your score. Otherwise, look for a 'Submit' or 'Save score' button/text and click it.

After I submitted my score, I got an error.
If you were logged out while playing the game, you are not able to save your high-score. This is done to prevent possible cases of cheating.

Otherwise, if you had two games opened, then submitted a score in one, when you go to submit your score in the second, it will fail. Play just one game at a time if you want to save your score!

What are the Monthly High scores?
The monthly high score is the highest score which has been achieved for a game during a particular month. Some monthly scores listed may not be higher than the top score listed for the game; this just means that no one was able to beat the game's top score during that month.

Miscellaneous Questions
How do I rate a game?
The game's rating will appear as a number of stars beneath its name, depending on how it has been rated.

To rate a game, go play the game or view its info page. Look for a link which says 'Rate this game'. Click that link, then select which rating you think the game deserves from 1 to 5. If you think the game was terrible, choose 1, if you think it was excellent, choose 5. Choose any other number in-between if you think the game was neither truly awful nor exceptionally great. Your rating will be averaged in with everyone else's to return the final game rating.

I can't figure out how to play a game!
If you are having trouble figuring out how to play a certain games, or what its rules are, you should first try carefully looking over the game itself. Most games offer and introductory screen which briefly explains the game. Sometimes you need to click a button which may be labeled 'Help', 'Instructions', 'How to Play', or something similar.

In addition, you may click the Game Info link in the game's category screen to show additional information, such as what method of control is used to play the game: keyboard, mouse, or both. For some games, there may be some instructional text or tips entered in the 'Instructions' box on the Game Info screen.

If you are still confused, try asking someone who has gained a high score for that game. See the 'View all Highscores' link for a listing of everyone who has attained a high score for the game.

Are there any multi-player games?
There currently are no games where more than one human player may participate. In the future, however, some games of this nature may be added.

Why isn't game X available?
If you believe the Arcade is missing a game, or you would to suggest one for addition, please contact an Administrator, or try posting a topic in the City Discussion forum. More than likely if you make your request known, the game probably will be added.

Are there tournaments?
If you want to organize a game tournament with other Citizens of Mac GUI City, you must do that amongst yourselves. The Arcade currently has no functionality to facilitate organized gaming tournaments. Such a feature may be added later.

What is Mac GUI City's policy on cheating?
Our stance is this: if you find a way to cheat at the games, then we really could care less, as long as you don't go overboard. For example, if you end up gaining millions of points, then we're going to have to ask you to stop, but otherwise, we generally can't prevent you. If you want to tell us how you're cheating; or post in the forums; or tell others, that's OK, but the same "don't over-do it" rule will still apply.
